To my way of thinking the New Year should begin in the spring. After all, the New Year represents a Fresh Start so to speak and the spring time months of April and May are about New Beginnings.

A nursing career is always full of new beginnings. One could consider every shift a chance to make a difference in someone else’s life, perhaps changing your own in the process.

Not only are nurses constantly dealing with new patients, but often with new physicians and new documentation systems as well as new drugs, new hospital policies, etc. As a nurse, you have the option of joining the group complainers who constantly bring down the unit with their negative attitudes. Or, you can choose to stay up to date making every shift and every patient you encounter a New Beginning.
