2011 is here. Have you sat down and come up with your resolutions or goals yet? Maybe this is the first time you’ve decided to make a New Years resolution or set a goal for the year to come. Remember, the year is a clean slate to try something new or advance your already honed skills. It’s a time to start over and do what we’ve always wanted to do, but never took the time.
So, what can we do in this year to better ourselves than the previous? We can further our education by taking a course that will move us to another career level. What about saving 10% of every paycheck? Of course, there is always losing weight, getting fit, and being more health conscious. We have a blank canvas in front of us to achieve many of those tasks we put aside and never went back to. How will you draw your year?
I don’t know about you, but one of the keys to achieving goals is to set specific objectives that you can track and measure progress against. Most people fail in keeping their resolutions past the first month. Do you know why? It’s because they don’t hold themselves accountable for it. Don’t just say you’re going to do it, write it down. Seeing your goals in writing will help make you accountable. So, get to work and make 2011 a productive year!

The month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Although not as often, breast cancer occurs in men, too. Do your part to educate yourself and be aware of the symptom of breast cancer.
Unfortunately, many women will not get their required check up/mammogram. Men don’t even think to ask. Other than visiting your doctor, do your best to live a healthy life. We live in a world that uses chemicals in everything from lipstick to the food we eat. Choose a diet filled with whole grains, fruit, vegetables, and beans. Also try to limit your intake of beef, chicken, and fish. Along with a healthy diet, do your best to incorporate some sort of exercise on a daily basis. Anything to get you moving makes your insides work, which in turn flushes out the toxins collected in our bodies. – Dannielle Lampkin, Executive Assistant to CEO
