It only takes two words to say Thank You, it takes only one word to say “Please.” Lately I have seen articles about registered nurses voting to authorize their leaders to call a strike unless contract negotiations move forward. They have been in negotiations for more than one year. Representatives for the nurses say they are pursuing better working conditions and wage increases to align their salaries with those of nurses at other hospitals. All this in hopes that the unions can reinvigorate contract negotiations with hospital management.

Low morale has increased in the healthcare industry. Studies have found that 1/5 of healthcare employees were reporting low morale. As a registry or agency nurse, you can probably name the hospitals that you have worked at where the staff is just generally downtrodden and often times less then pleasant to the registry nurse. Avoid the urge to “join in the whining.”
