Society refers to nursing as a profession. That fact made me think about the word Professionalism. What exactly does the word mean in relation to nursing and the practice of nursing?

What is the meaning of nursing professionalism? A profession is defined as a calling or a vocation. Especially one that involves some branch of advanced learning or science. The essence of professionalism is both having a unique or special knowledge and the self imposed obligation to serve the community.
